Chinese Culture and Society

This course is a rich mixture of lectures, readings and field trips. Students will explore a series of materials regarding the history, customs, values and philosophies of China, and, at the end of their research, they will go on excursions of historical interest and cultural significance in China. With their firsthand knowledge, students will gain an insight to the extraordinary continuities between China’s present and past, which remain key to understanding Chinese people, culture and society. Moreover, this course will move students from the familiar to the unfamiliar, and also provides them with a precious experience for self–discovery, as well as personal and professional growth.
