Last weekend we visited the Alhambra. It is a magnificent Muslim castle that was built in the 9th century. It was designed to protect the city, Granada, from invaders that tried to take over the Castle. It contains 3 palaces which the walls and the structure are filled with Muslim, Arabic and Christian art. Unfortunately I don’t know all the history about the Alhambra, since our tour guide was using big words and speaking pretty fast, (in Spanish) however, I do know it is one of the most BEAUTIFUL places I have ever seen.
Also the city of Granada is magnificent, the buildings, the parks, the women!
Granada is a big city it’s bigger than Richmond and contains muchos estudiantes (a lot of students). Our hotel had a pretty view we were able to see the mountains which have white tops from the snow. It looked like a postcard.
This weekend we travel to Valencia. I am excited to see what the next city offers us.
Can’t get enough of the Spanish Life!

Everyday after luch and dinner. My spanish mother, Irene, talks to Will Russel (my roomate) and I about school, work, parties, Gonzalo( her child) the world, society, relationships, etc... So yesterday she was asking us how to say bad words in English and there significance. so after about ten words she help us translate the bad words in spanish. It was really funny because the only time I wanted to curse someone out since i´ve been in Spain, was when this guy at the camera shop destroyed two rolls of my film and tried to blame me. However at the time I was not educated in words to defend or express myself. so I bit my tounge and walked out the store.
Each experience in Spain has been an educating and an eye opening expierence for me, from the tours, to the University, to the people, to the food and even to the informitative talks with my spanish family after lunch and dinner. It all has been great!
Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my real mom, (i know your age may be old but you still look young)

We just finished our first week at the Universidad de Alicante (The University of Alicante). The University is a lot longer than Randolph-Macon it has about five thousands students, which is a lot larger than 1100 students at RMC. The campus is gorgeous; it has gardens, cool shrubs and tress I haven’t even seen before, it’s wonderful! My professor name is ¨Chitty¨ and she speaks beautiful Spanish but her English is funny because she has a distinct British accent. Also most of the students here dress up everyday, the rarely ever wear sweat-pants or flip-flops.
The night life here is crazy, things don’t really get started till at least 12am and the bars and clubs stay open till at least 4, 5, 6 and even 7am! They party all night long. Most of the students go out the same days people in the U.S go out, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The working people of Spain usually start there day the pretty early around 7, 8am but go home for lunch at 2pm. Most stores don’t open back up till 5pm and then close at 10pm. During there lunch it is expected not to call or bother anyone, its there time of rest.
I am enjoying every minute and every moment of Spain it’s going to be hard for me to say Goodbye!

We are finally here. Right now we are in the capital of Spain, Madrid. Madrid is a gigantic and beautiful city filled with a lot of people. It’s very similar to New York City in the United States. Public transportation is very good throughout Madrid. Most people use the trains because they are very efficient in conserving time, since there is always traffic on the road. The last three days we have been exploring, and venturing the historical aspects of the city Madrid. The museums are wonderful, especially the plazas. In Madrid the plazas are the place to go they have clothes, jewelry, food and souvenirs.
Last night we went to the parade of Los Reyes Magos (The three wise men). Their holiday is very similar to Christmas. It was great; they had balloons and candy at the parade. The parade was mostly filled with little kids who were eager to receive candy from the Los Reyes Magos. Most of us who were close enough to catch the candy which was thrown gave it to the chicos (little kids).
So far this trip has been off the hook, we have done so much in the last three days. I am really looking forward to the rest of the trip.
P.S. for my boys at home the women out here are GORGEOUS, well most of them.
And for the Ladies…I am sorry I don’t judge guys, but if you like me then you like Spain.
