So much to catch up on!
We've had such a fun couple of weeks since I last wrote (:
Last weekend we traveled to Granada. We stayed in a beautiful hotel, which was very close to to Alhambra. It had just been renovated so it looked very nice, too bad we couldnt swim in the pool ): Friday night after we got in, we pretty much just got to relax for the most part then a bunch of us went for a walk to downtown Granada to go exploring, I think we stopped in every shoe store we saw... but I mean, everything is on sale right?! I thought it was a great way to get immersed in the culture! One of the shop owners gave us a map of Granada which ended up being really helpful. Before we went back to the hotel, we stood on one of the main walking bridges that connects to ends of the town, and watched the sun set. Later that night we got to see an awesome Flamenco show in a cave, close to the Alhambra, it was kind of tight in there but it was definitely worth it (:
Saturday was filled with so so much walking! We got up early and had breakfast in the hotel and then traveled to the Alhambra, something I was really excited to see after having studied the architecture in Art History. After the Alhambra we went on a mini tour of Granada where we got to see the older part of the city. We learned that each street in this part of town has a story behind its name, most of these streets werent even wide enough for a car to go down.
Sunday morning we returned to Alicante. Cara and I were really tired so we just stayed in and did homework. This week has been filled with school work, working on projects and studying but tonight we get to go to a wine tasting down town, which sounds kind of exciting (:
Tomorrow we go to Valencia in the morning for a daytrip, and who knows what we'll do at night!
Hope everyone is doing fine back at home, see you all in a week!
Ciao!

I'm sure from looking at Easton, Kaitlin, and Diana's blog you can see that we finally made it to Alicante (:
It was an adventurous first week here to say the least but it has definitely been fun. I've had a cold since before we first got to Spain, but I'm happy to say that I've finally started to get better! Although it is only three of us in my Conversation class, its actually been very entertaining. I think sometimes we confuse Fernando (Prof. Recaj-Navarro) but I find it entertaining trying to understand certain spanish words that I've never heard before while the three of us try to get him to understand certain English words that cant always be found in a dictionary.. like mohawk & mullet.
...speaking of mullets... you should definitely read Kaitlins blog, shes written all about our mullet experience here in Alicante!
As for our family, Cara and I are staying with a lovely Spanish woman whose in her 60s or 70s. Its just her and us so its usually very quiet and relaxing. Cara and I share a room and we keep all of our junk in another room. But we definitely love it, and the location is great because we rarely have to take the bus (something that is definitely a new experience for me) since we are right in the city. We can even walk to the beach or 'el puerto' on the weekends. The other day we got to take a trip up to the castle that is at the top of a hill in our town. It's really pretty when its lit up at night but even though we went during the day, we got some really nice pictures from above of the city.
We leave for Granada on Friday and we're already looking for discotekas online that are close to our hotel. And I cant wait to see the Alhambra Palace, the pictures that I've seen are really gorgeous and it is really close to our hotel there. I'm sure we wont want to leave.
All in all, I am really enjoying Spain, not having the luxury of a car to drive us everywhere is different but not at all a bad thing, we're definitely learning and learning about a lot more this way and all the excercise isn't bad either!
By the way, I LOVE siestas.
I just woke up from mine (:
till next time!

Well we finally got the internet working downstairs & we are blogging f u r i o s l y.
Ive been sick with some kind of a cold for the past couple of days but I've still been trying to enjoy myself as much as a I can (:
Yesterday I missed our morning tour because I was trying to catch up on the sleep I missed the night before from not feeling well but I went out later on with everybody for a long walk through Madrid. A few of us went down to a nice little restaurant/bar just to get something to drink so I ordered a coke & some pan dulce that they give the little kids during the Dia De Los Reyes.
Today we went to the Museo del Prado which was nice because its supposed to be one of the biggest museums in the world. Then we went to this huge park where we gad a nice lunch and walked around and took pictures.
In a little while some of us are heading out to see the spanish version of The Producers but it doesnt start til ten so we have a little while to rest up.
And tomorrow we leave Madrid & head for Alicante with Toledo in between!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
Talk to you soon !

Well we got in this morning & I'm still kind of off on the time and trying to catch up on sleep is sort of hard but I think I'll feel better in the morning. We ate at a restaurant for dinner and I ordered paella and steak with potatoes. I'm not sure I like paella, I'm not a fan of having seashells in my food. After lunch a couple of us took naps which turned into 5 or 6 hours of crash sleeping. Most of us ended up going out for dinner to a restaurant on Calle Real which ended being really nice even though we left the hotel around 9:30 and we didnt actually sit down to eat until 11. It was worth it though cause i really liked my dinner and I felt comortable and actually full when I was done. So anyways.. its off to bed for me cause its been a long day.. tomorrow should be fun, were touring Madrid..
