J-Term Diaries: England
England (Education 330)Students traveling to England will live in a 12th century abbey in the quaint hamlet of Wroxton (about 70 miles NW of London). Wroxton Abbey is the ancestral home of Lord North, Prime Minister of England in 1776. Some of the sites students will visit include Warwick Castle, Banbury Cross, Stonehenge, Bath, and Stratford- on-Avon (including a production at the Royal Shakespeare or the Swan Theaters). England (Economics 383)In addition to the rigors of studying abroad, the class will take time to visit some points of interest including Stonehenge, the Roman baths of Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Warwick Castle. They will also spend a long weekend in London, combining coursework with sight-seeing and some relaxation. Also scheduled are industry site visits, which serve as object lessons, connecting theory to practice. England and Wales (Music 381)This course is a performance tour and a study of the choral music of British composers from the Renaissance to the present. Students will travel to various locations in England and Wales, including: London, Bath, Pembrokeshire, Caernarfon, Chester and London. Students will perform at various locations throughout the tour. Possible performance venues include: Salisbury Cathedral, St. David’s Cathedral, Caernarfon Castle, York Minster and Holy Trinity Church. England (Mathematics 470)This course will be taught entirely at Wroxton College in England. Class will meet every day, with periodic excursions to places of mathematical and historical interest. These will include: Cambridge, Oxford, Bath, Stonehenge, Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as four days in London.
